The single-effect falling film evaporator used for evaporating ethanol solution is different from the one used for evaporating general aqueous solution. The ethanol has a relatively low boiling point, which is volatile. It’s easy to evaporate ethanol solution under reduced pressure or vacuum condition. So it’s relatively difficult to condense and recycle ethanol steam with a smaller evaporation area. Thus the heat exchange area of the condenser is larger. To obtain a better cooling effect, the two-stage or several-stage method is frequently used for cooling and recycling, which also varies from the evaporation of general aqueous solution.
Design and configuration description of scraper type thin film evaporator
1. Minimal pressure loss In the rotary scraper film evaporator, the material “flow” and the secondary steam “flow” are two independent “channels”: the material falls along the inner wall of the evaporation cylinder (forced film formation); While the secondary steam evaporated from the evaporation surface leaves the evaporator almost unhindered from the space in the center of the cylinder, so the pressure loss (or resistance drop) is extremely small.
2. It can operate under real vacuum conditions Because the resistance of the secondary steam from the evaporation surface to the condenser is very small, the evaporation surface of the inner wall of the whole evaporation cylinder can maintain a high vacuum (up to – 750 mmHg or more), which is almost equal to the vacuum at the outlet of the vacuum system. Due to the improvement of the vacuum degree, the boiling point of the treated material is effectively reduced.
3. High heat transfer coefficient and high evaporation intensity The decrease of the boiling point of the material increases the temperature difference with the heat medium; The turbulent liquid film reduces the thermal resistance; Similarly, the coking and scaling of the materials on the wall are suppressed, and the partial heat transfer coefficient of the evaporation cylinder wall is also improved; The total heat transfer coefficient of the high-efficiency rotary thin film evaporator can be as high as 4000-8000kj / h · ㎡ ℃, so its evaporation intensity is very high.
4. Low temperature evaporation Since a high vacuum can be maintained in the evaporation cylinder, the boiling point of the treated material is greatly reduced, so it is particularly suitable for low-temperature evaporation of heat sensitive materials.
5. Short overcurrent time The flow time of materials in the evaporator is very short, about 10 seconds, without coking and scaling; For the commonly used movable scraper, the end face of the scraping material is provided with a diversion groove, and the inclined angle is usually 45 °. Changing the angle of the inclined angle can change the flow time of the material. Under the scraping of the scraper, the material will spiral down and leave the evaporation section. Shorten the flow time and effectively prevent the decomposition, polymerization or deterioration of the product during evaporation.
6. Low grade steam can be used Steam is a common heat medium. Since it reduces the boiling point of materials, it can ensure the same ΔT, the temperature of the heating medium can be reduced, and low-grade steam can be used, which is conducive to the comprehensive utilization of energy. It is especially suitable for the end effect evaporator of multi effect evaporation.
7. Strong adaptability and easy operationThe unique structure design enables the product to handle some materials with high viscosity, particles, heat sensitivity and easy crystallization that are not easy to be handled by conventional evaporators.
